Cultivating Faith: Intergenerational Mentorship and Spiritual Formation in Urban Denver

2024: East Denver Vineyard Neighborhood Church (EDV), rooted in a vibrant yet rapidly gentrifying space, strives to foster spiritual growth amid the community’s challenges. EDV will help the community cultivate individual and collective spiritual practices that will help people to bloom in the desert; and as they grow, new seeds will be planted and cultivated in an intergenerational way. This grant facilitates EDV’s mission to grow “deep and wide.” Their aim is to cultivate spiritual depth and expand their reach to neighbors who are curious but skeptical about faith. An emphasis on adult spiritual formation creates the foundation for EDV to develop an intergenerational mentoring approach to the discipleship and formation of kids, youth, and young adults.

EDV Bellwether House: Radical Hospitality & Sabbath Formation in Urban Denver

2025-26: East Denver Vineyard Neighborhood Church (EDV) remains committed to cultivating spiritual depth and community resilience in Denver’s vibrant but contested landscape. This grant builds on insights from the previous year and focuses on enhancing community programming through monthly “spiritual but not religious” (SBNR) salons. These gatherings will explore pressing cultural and spiritual themes, drawing inspiration from our successful climate-change and Jacques Ellul salons. The salons aim to engage both church members and the wider Denver community, fostering meaningful dialogue and spiritual exploration.

Kathy (Hoà-Khánh)’s Prayer

Pray for the people of Denver and lawmakers to be of one accord in this upcoming election, so that there would be productive movement in increasing funding for public schools, affordable housing, and caring for the unhoused in Denver. Pray that people who follow Jesus would show up as curious and peacemakers.
