The Arts at Resurrection Brooklyn
The Arts at Resurrection Brooklyn is deepening its connection between church and community through two initiatives: The Salon and the Artist-in-Residence (AIR) program. Led by artist Sasha Hallock and pastor Jamison Galt, The Salon will host public-facing arts programming to inspire creativity and connection, while the AIR program provides studio space for an artist to engage with the community through talks and workshops. These initiatives aim to cultivate spaces of respite and replenishment, embodying the church’ s mission to welcome all who seek rest and inspiration.
Sasha is an Iranian American artist living and working in New York City. He holds a degree in painting and drawing from SUNY New Paltz, and a MA in Ministry in the Global City from City Seminary. He works for Transform Arts CRU, and resides in Brooklyn with his family.
The Collaborative Seed Grant initiative of the Ministry in the City HUB invites artists, pastors, youth workers, churches, and/or faith-based organizations to partner together on a seed or start-up project that integrates the arts or a creative practice with ministry and community. Our inaugural cohort of CS grantees include artists from Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, and New York, partnering with local churches and community organizations.
Dear God, may your light shine from the darkest basement alleyway to the he tallest penthouse apartment, from Gracie Mansion to the migrant shelter on Hall St. May your light shine.
